Help me with a question about the Bible and homosexuality?

My Pastor recently told me that my homosexual relationship is against God’s Law and that the Bible outlines that I am an abomination. I read Leviticus 18:22 and it seems that he is correct and that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states that for man to lay down as he lays down with women is an abomination.



I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Law and how to follow them.



1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord -

Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors in my condo association claim the odors are not so pleasing to them. Should I smite them?



2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what

do you think would be a fair price for her? Can I list her on ebay or craigslist?



3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense and keep slapping me!



4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians? They are so cute!



5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2. The passage clearly states he

should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself or is there someone I call?



6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a

lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there 'degrees' of

abomination?



7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?



8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though

this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die and again am I morally obligated to kill them or can I just call upon the Mormons or Baptist to do it?



9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play

football if I wear gloves?



10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does

his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also

tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the

whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private

family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

This just points out that the bible was a book written by man many many years after the events actually happened. It was also the law of the land - a way to control people if you will. It is only fringe group like the Mormons and Evangelical christians that use the bible to spread hate and intolerance. I say find a new pastor and a more accepting congregation and you'll be just fine!

The problem with this line of thinking is that you are citing the prohibition against homosexuality as found in the old covenant law. That covenant was between the two parties, God and the Israelites and does not include you.



However, homosexuality was established long before the old covenant came into being, and was reiterated as a sin after the old covenant ended, so your attempt to justify homosexuality by demonstrating how some old covenant law is irrelevant to our society and time is a Red Herring argument. The old covenant law is irrelevant in this regard.

Hey look at me, I can pull 500 verses out of context and translate them however I want! Gimmie a cookie everyone!

1. Your apartment is not the holy temple of Solomon, to be making burnt offerings.

2. The wicked were sold into slavery to begin with, NOT the innocent.

3. How do you tell? Pay attention to the bathroom trash can...

4. The heathen were put in slavery as punishment by God. You're siding with heathen? Not surprising...

5. Your neighbor works on the Sabbath? Yet you are NOT without sin, and cannot cast the first stone.

6. He gave us food laws for a reason, to keep us healthy. Eating unclean animals is a sin against the flesh. Yes, there are lesser degrees of sin. Does stealing a candy bar equate to as bad as murder? NOPE.

7. Correct, people with deformities could not touch the altar of God. Read the NEXT verse on what they COULD do: Leviticus 21:22: He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy. Clearly, God loved them.

8. He gave them specific guidelines to follow in that WHOLE chapter because of the paganistic practices of the wicked taking place then. Follow God, not pagans...

9. It meant NOT to prepare it for consumption. Yeah, try quoting the WHOLE verse next time, kiddo.

10. People were not to mix lamb with goats or even have same species intercrossbreeding, nor was clothing to be made from intercrossbred animals. Try reading and quoting the ENTIRE verse, not just cherry picking partial verses out of context that support your biblical illiteracy. You will fail everytime, as I've demonstrated. Keep them coming... The truth will always prevail. Quoting Martin Sheen's biblical illiteracy won't save you...
Great Bible reading chum! Your research goes to show that unlike some so -called Christians you have at least read the Owners Manual. However if you are a believer you should understand the over-riding clause in the contract which stipulates that ALL sins are forgiven. Alternatively as you seem to imply you could just ask a Fundamentalist to kill you but I'd tend to assume that defeats the object.



The best advice I can give you is to follow Woody Allen's precept which is:



" Life is a meaningless nightmare and the only advice I can give you is to save short lengths of string"

The law of Moses was fulfilled by the atonement of Jesus Christ. The Law of Moses was a "type" or symbol of Christ to prepare the world for Christ. We no longer need to live the Law of Moses as Christ did already come. To follow the Law of Moses would be to follow a dead law. Now do you understand?

Your pastor is correct by the way. Leviticus is NOT the ONLY place in the Bible were the laws of God are spelled out. Its in the New Testament too, and follows the gospel that Christ brought to the world.
Then let's go to the New Testament:



Romans 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:



27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.



28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;





1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,





1 Timothy 1:10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;





Jude : 7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Jesus came to forgive all sin ,which he did. He does not care how gay you are. Just put your faith in his words not of a paster or of a time before him,or of a personal opinion .
Here's the problem- this is all from the old testament! Once Jesus came and died for the forgiveness of our sins, most of this is no longer applied to our lives. Now, homosexuality is still wrong, but God doesn't love his children any less because of it. Please learn more about this stuff before you go around shouting misinformation to the world.
Ok this is soooo great... i would so wake my husband up to read this if he wouldn't kill me LOL. You know there are other things in the bible also that most christians do not know. Like did you know that Satan is not the ruler of hell, there is not a "rapture", the antichrist is anyone who does not believe in christianity so obama would be an antichrist hahaha, and there are many others. You just keep reading your bible and do as it says.. and if anyone asks.. just say "its in the name of the Lord, my God, Jesus Christ" Oh another thing is that if you are a certain denomination of christian, that makes you .002% of the world population that believes in your religion. I think christianity is also only .05% of the 100,000 different world religions. Sorry for the rant, but homosexuality is not a sin if that is what you want to do. I say "Do what ye will, an it harm none!!"
All of these scriptures are irrelivant to the new covenant: Jesus.



God does not desire sacrifieces of animals as in the old testiment.

In all these scriptures God is talking to his people who believe %26amp; follow him ...he's not talking to those who don't know or live by the new covenant: Jesus.



Heb 8:13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.



Heb 9:15 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
Homosexuality is no different to any other sin except for the fact that BAD christians use it to excuse their intolerance, hatred, bigotry and persecution which will inevitably take themselves to hell!



Anglican leaders from around the world reiterated their opposition to the "victimisation or diminishment" of gays and lesbians, saying demonising and persecuting them was "totally against Christian charity and basic principles of pastoral care".



"We say that no one should have to live in fear because of the bigotry of others."



The mormons poured millions into forcing through prop 8 in CA: to ban gay marriage. The courts held that to be unconstitutional. It is now awaiting the Supreme Court verdict which is expected to uphold the early court decision.



If that happens then gay marriage will become legal everywhere!

Are you a believer in Jesus?

If you are not a believer then you will not have the desire to be humble before God and therefore your question is pointless and in fact dangerous.



If you are a Christian then hooray! You are not bound by the Old Testament Laws and therefore all those remedies are gone gone gone. The only remedy is through faith in Jesus.



Galatians 3:10-14 says: "For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.” The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.” Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.



However, if you are a believer in Jesus then you will obey His command which says in Luke 10:27 "‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”



If you follow Jesus in this then you will be fulfilling His will. If you truly love God and your neighbour in this way then you will not sin.



However, I also know that 1 Timothy 1 says: "We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me."

Doesn't anyone read the new testament? You know, the part with Jesus, where he states that the entire old testament full of laws and rules is null, void, and has no bearing on your faith any more? All he asked for was that you love him and give your heart to him. Not your life, just your heart.
