I would have said Indiana (being that I live here) but since the introduction of class basketball it hasn't been the same since.
I will, however, suggest that Indiana may have the most fans that go to basketball games to watch the game that have no affiliation with a particular school-yes, they attend just to watch a game, strange as that may sound.

if your playing for high school your best at Small Forward since you dont weigh as much at the JV level the coach might put you as Power Forward because of you size.
i suggest you lift weights and get a little bigger. That way your Junior year you'll be playing Varsity. You have a great size to play a Forward position. People are always telling me to get better rotation on the basketball shot. What does it mean and how can I get better at it?How do you get rotation on your basketball shot?
You have to make sure to follow-through. In other words, "flick" your wrist toward the basket when you shoot. Keep your fingers spread on your shooting hand, bring the ball up, and then when you let the ball go, flick your wrist so that your fingers are pointing down and toward the basket, like reaching into a cookie jar.
Here's a drill that can help (one-handed shooting drill).
1. Stand on the side of the basket that's the same as your strong hand (if you shoot with your right hand, stand on the right side of the basket, left-handed then the left side) at the lower block.
2. Face the basket as you are going to bank a jump-shot off of the backboard
3. Using your shooting hand, and only your shooting hand, try to shoot and bank the ball off of the backboard to make the basket

What basketball position should I play? How can I get the skills needed to play that position?
I'm 14 and want to try and make JV as a freshman next year. I'm 5'4", and according to a doctor going into my growth spurt year. I'm not particularly good or bad at any aspect of basketball. I can shoot from deep relatively well, and I'm pretty fast at short distance sprints. My mile is about 6:50. I'm light and skinny, but not very strong. You could check out Eastbay and NikeID; I recently saw a funky snake-skin version of the 2K4. They also released the lasered 2004 Kobe "Championship" design last year.

I'm a pretty good basketball player. I was the captain of my team last year. But I have a weakness. Every time i drive the ball with my left hand i loose control. And I cant lay up correctly with my left hand. What can I do to make my left hand stronger so i could dribble,lay up perfectly with my left hand?How to streghten my left hand for basketball?
It's no secret. You have to WORK. It's tough. I've been working on my weak hand for a year and it has improved a lot but it's still not good enough. It's not near as good as my right. But if you truly want to improve....keep practicing. Use your left hand in a game. Actually use it.
But the best way to improve is focus on it. Like if you're a guard, go to your basement or something and pound it with ONLY your left hand for like 30 seconds to 1 min. As long as you can. POUND the ball, don't stop even if it's getting tired. That's how you improve. Push yourself out of your comfort zone. It's easy to give up, but tell yourself you really want to go left. You want both hands to be equal. You want to be a complete basketball player. Work on all your weaknesses. Good Luck.

King Kong on Thanksgiving?
When I was a kid, growing up in the cleveland area, we'd go over to my grandparents' house and they had cable. After dinner, more than anything, I remember sitting down and watching King Kong. Unfortunately, it was the crappy 1970s version, but at the time, it was still awesome to me. I've since seen the original and appreciate it more, but whenever I think of Thanksgiving, I think of Macy's, FOOD (mmmmm), football and King Kong.
Funny thing is, I haven't seen King Kong since I was a kid, and that was MANY yrs ago, but it's still a lasting impression.
Does anyone else remember that? This is a memory that seems out of place with normal Thanksgiving associations, but it's one of mine, nonetheless, so I have to ask.King Kong on Thanksgiving?

I guess you could say Im fairly inteligent, I went to university and have an acdamic degree in shipsbuilding. I know, you wouldnt guess from my spelling that Im inteligent, that is because english is not my first language.
Now I have also done modeling, I dont want to get too cocky calling myself both inteligent and handsome, so I'll give a negative characteristic to compensate; I cant play any instrument and my english spelling is terrible.
I wouldnt call myself handsome in real life but I guess I am because I have done succesful modeling in italy. and Im fairly athletic, I play football.
Now the thing is, I look a bit like a bimbo, but I also like videogames and manga/anime and reading. Now Im wondering if women find those negative things. I have no problem actracting women, but I have a feeling that they dislike me once they find out that I have this serious side. I dont know if its true, or I am imagining it.
Are there women who find inteligence education atractive and NOT only because of pramatic reasons and associations with wealth and status. It might sound a bit whiney, but I often feel that women are only with me because of how I look, and I dislike that. I would like a woman who is actually interested in me and what I like.... Im not asking if looks matter or not. Im asking if inteligence is a positive or negative atribute. Sepp Blatter recently came out to apologize for the poor officiating mistakes which cost England a equalizer against Germany and which allowed Carlos Tevez to score an offside goal against Mexico. Now Blatter says that "goal-line technology will be considered" at the next FIFA board meeting.
Now let me tell you that nothing will change. As long as Blatter is in charge of FIFA we will never have goal-line technology. Here's why. Firstly, in his statement, Blatter cleverly said that it will be considered. Now, if you follow football, you would know that this isn't the first time he has said that (eventhough now it is getting all the media attention -%26gt; England). He has said numerous times before with FIFA not doing anything. The reason is simple: Money. Now with goal-line technology, the top European, Asian leagues and MLS will obviuosly be able to easily implement the technology. However, the smaller leagues from the poorer associations will be coming to FIFA to ask them to help out as it's their job as governing body. Note that FIFA made $2 billion in the last financial year so it's not like it's going to kill them. That's the truth. Blatter and Co. are protecting the profits and the their bonuses. Not this "keeping it human" crap.And there have been allegations of corruption at FIFA ever since Germany 06 pertaining to bribes, vote rigging and kickbacks.

I can't decide where to live.?
I separated from my husband some time ago and he stayed in the family home. Now we have agreed to get things moving and he is moving out. I don't know whether to buy him out and go back and live there (it's a beautiful house in a very pretty location close to the beach but the house is 15 years old and he has neglected to look after it)
My second option is that i can buy a brand new house which is just as beautiful but close to a small town with a football field beyond and is not situated in a pretty and secluded area as is the first house. I don't know which to choose. Both houses are very similar except the first house by the beach is in a mess and needs upgrading and the second house is perfect inside but the area is not as appealing.
Bearing in mind the first house has bad memories %26amp; negative associations. Could i ignore this and be happy %26amp; settled there, or would the 'ghosts' haunt me? The second house would be a fresh start.

Why are we letting it happen?
I live on a housing association estate and can't believe the behaviour of not only the kids but the adults alike. I had children young but i work full time as does my partner. We are probably worst off than the other resisdents as we work to pay our rent (most are on housing benefit) and yet our property gets vandalised by the kids kicking footballs and throwing stones and their parents take no responsibility. The teens are loud until all hours of the night with no consideration of the neighbours that have work (probably because they don't know what it is like to get up early to work as they don't even go to school never mind see there parents out of their beds before midday) Can't the government do more to discourage those that are abusing the system. If statistics were used from our estate only 20% are likely to be working in 10 years time but i fear that at lease 60% won't be, who is going to fund them? Are these teens of today going to cause an economy collapseWhy are we letting it happen?

The children in the area are just unruly and run the streets causing havoc. The parents in some situations have actually joined in with there children in terrorizing the neighborhood. I think if the housing association was stricter with there rules and didn't just tell you "well go citizens advice bureau because we don;t really care" then maybe there wouldn't be so many problems. But like I'm always saying, it would be easier if we moved all these people off to an estate that don;t want to work should be carted off to the military. Or volentary work. The goverment needs to stop making easy for people to just chose to stop working and start popping out child after child while the rest of us have to work our asses of to support these children.

OK, we all know that the meaning of Otaku in Japanese is "another's house." That refers to the outsiderness of Otaku interests. Anime, manga, gamer, and computer Otaku are usually made fun of (until recently), yet other types of Otaku are tolerated (at least here in the US).
Otaku refers to one obsessed with a hobby. So, can someone explain why certain types of Otaku are accepted by society while others are not? For example, gun Otaku have the NRA. Cigar Otaku have the Cigar Aficionado magazine. Model Railroaders (densha Otaku) have the NMRA. Doll Otaku are considered collectors...as are coin and stamp collectors (they have their own associations).
If you love movies, you can become a film critic and get your own show, like Roger Ebert. Why, you can even get a Master of Fine Arts degree in it! BUT, if those movies happen to be animated, look out; you are officially a GEEK.
If you go out on Halloween (or go to a UK "fancy dress party"), you are considered cool. If you go to a cosplay event, you are a weirdo.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it - just as long as you know when to stop and stuff and that it doesn't take over your life. If you can balance your love of anime/manga and your life outside that, then I see no issue with it.

I am going to be a Senior in high school. I am currently in th top 10% of my class.My GPA is only 4.2, and i got a 31 on my ACT (although I plan to take it again; I can probably score 33-34).
My numbers aren't the greatest, but that's because I've taken a LOT of honors/AP classes. Not to mention my extracurricular activities.
I am a Peer Leader (we help freshman get adjusted to life in high school). I am Senior Physical Education Leader (we help out freshmen PE teachers throughout the year). I am the President of the Muslim Student Association and the National Honor Society. I am on our school's Principal's Student Advisory Board. I am on the School District Board of Education; I serve as a Student Liaison, although I am not permitted to vote. I am on the Superintendent's Student Advisory Board (we help make decisions pertaining to student life throughout the districts high schools). I am part of my high school's Science, Math and Technology Academy; Outside of our regular classes, we spend part of our day with the rest of our "academy" in science, math and engineering-based classes. This academy has a Student Academy Council which I am the Vice President of.
I started my own Peer Tutor program, for Beginners in Spanish. I have also participated in Mathletes (Math Competitions), JETS (Junior Engineering Technical Society) and am a member of the Spanish Honor Society. this is a 50-50 situation! theres a 50-50 chance for Gridiron Footy that it may become an olympic sport. and once again Karate, Squash and Rubgy (7s n union) have been axed again in the bidding contests for London 2012!

Its not just a matter of domination, yes China have a very strong record in synchro diving and table tennis but those sports are played in many countries at a high level. China may dominate but they don't win everything all the time. Gridiron is not played at a meaningful level outside the USA %26amp; maybe Canada, who would compete in a Olympic gridiron competition? Countries are not going to setup gridiron leagues just so they can enter a team in the Olympics.
Try and understand the difference, China may dominate certain sports just as the USA dominates Basketball but Gridiron is NOT played anywhere else above the level of a few expat Americans running around a local park. To be in the Olympics a sport has to have a degree of worldwide popularity and Gridiron is not popular outside the USA.

No, it might get in if Chicago hosts the games but if so it will be one time only. Its not just a matter of domination, yes China have a very strong record in synchro diving and table tennis but those sports are played in many countries at a high level. China may dominate but they don't win everything all the time. Gridiron is not played at a meaningful level outside the USA %26amp; maybe Canada, who would compete in a Olympic gridiron competition? Countries are not going to setup gridiron leagues just so they can enter a team in the Olympics.
Try and understand the difference, China may dominate certain sports just as the USA dominates Basketball but Gridiron is NOT played anywhere else above the level of a few expat Americans running around a local park. To be in the Olympics a sport has to have a degree of worldwide popularity and Gridiron is not popular outside the USA.
Claims are always being made by administrators of fringe sports about how they are breaking into new markets and have worldwide interest. The evidence isn't there, you quote US websites only. When you can quote the news sites of the countries you claim Gridiron is gaining popularity it you might have a case.

I follow the "Series A" at least twenty years and I like to call it the championship more interesting (not the most beautiful but most difficult) for the following reasons:
A) the teams are all very difficult to deal with, there is never a foregone conclusion
2) the goals are many actions, even if sometimes the ball in midfield there is always a battle, and this glimpse of the tactics and then the teachings of their coach
3) there is no physicality, which is used the premier league, is a technique sometimes goes against the tactic of the weaker teams, creating a kind of game where the 'cunning, the qualities of each player and group are valued.
It seems to me a prejudice crafted by some associations with the 'help of journalists to bury Italian football, in order to convey the' attention and therefore a lot of money to other destinations.

What can I watch besides the World Cup?
I'm really starting to enjoy watching football - besides the stuff that everybody hates - bad calls, dives, etc.
Anyways, I'm curious about a couple things:
- What other leagues, associations, clubs can I watch that have to do with football?
- In order to make it to the World Cup, I'm guessing teams are competing within the 4 years to make it to the top 32, which cups or championships are they playing in between world cups?

I'm only reading the question title and my answer is... Just sleep, just intoxicate yourself and sleep and set your alarm for whichever kick-off.
Actually it's a bit more complex than that:
The world cup is country vs country, and the players have to have passports and be "citizens" of that country to play. FIFA has rules about all this. During a typical year there are only a few weekends when "International" matches are played. This includes "friendlies" which dont really matter, and other qualifying games which is how the World cup and other international tournaments are seeded.
The bread and butter of soccer is the Club programs. Essentially all of the players that you see in the world cup play for a club somewhere in the world. This club is who pays their wages (not positive but I dont think they get paid for national team appearances) and that's essentially their employer. Typically speaking, the best leagues to watch are the English Premier League, the Italian Serie A, and the Spanish La Liga. Followed closely by the German Bundesliga and then you get into south american and other smaller european leagues.
If you speak English I would highly recommend following the English Premier League. It's fast paced, plays pretty much every weekend Aug - May, and even with the HUGE teams like Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea, any team can win on any given day - leading to upsets and excitement. In the US, the majority of EPL games are covered by FSC(Fox Soccer Channel) which is part of an additional sports package usually ($6 a month for the package on Cox Cable) In Canada, FSN carries 2-3 games every Saturday monrning :)

all the four leagues put together there are 92 clubs and pretty much every city or town has a team in one of these leagues and some even have two clubs!!
But if none of these 92 clubs take your fancy you could go to non-league football matches which is smaller than professional leagues which have smaller clubs in it but the football is still entertaining and it's alot cheaper to watch. So in non-league you have lots of choice again, the leagues are:
Conference Premier
Conference North
Conference South
Isthmian Premier League
..and then it gets split into regional leagues such as the Sheffield and Hallamshire district league or the Cheshire league etc....
So I'm sure you'll find something you'll like.

Ever Gotten A Thumbs Down For Answering Truthfully And Plainly To A JW Question?
Some time ago, someone asked why his friend who was JW would no longer hang out with him like he used to and watch football etc. just because he wasn't JW.
My answer was:
"Sad but true, they will be polite to you and preach to you but will not associate with you on any meaningful level unless you decide to join their sect because they think non-Witnesses are bad associations."
Now I know this is true because I read it in their own literature and I once had a JW girl in my daughter's high school who did not have any friends and her parents would not let her go out with the other girls or have sleep-overs etc, even though these were parental supervised and safe.
So why do JWs thumbs down you when a non-JW tells it like it is? Isn't it TRUE that non-witnesses are considered bad associations and no relationship must be encouraged with them beyond basic civil interaction and preaching?
Why is it bad when I say it? Is it because I am a non-Witness?|||I've never gotten a thumbs down for that, specifically, but I'm thoroughly convinced that there are people who give me a thumbs down based solely on me being the person who answered a question. I doubt they read my answer, they just see my avatar, and click their mouse.

Don't assume that a child does not have friends, just because they don't associate with your friends or school mates. Everyone has a friend at school, I had good friends at school, but I didn't associate with them outside of school, because I had a whole set of friends that shared my same beliefs that I chose to spend the rest of my free time with. I still keep in touch with many of them from almost 30 years ago.
My nieces and nephews just went to Epcot Sunday with a bunch of their friends, who all share the same beliefs and goals.
You have to look at the whole picture. I know that my cousin who is not a witness, allows her children to watch rated R movies and demonic movies. She doesn't feel there's anything wrong with this. Many parents feel the same way. However, witness parents try to protect their children from violent, sexual and demonic movies or games.
What you consider true is a generalization, a form of propaganda, we are all individuals and your one experience not reflective of the whole picture.|||Because not associating with the world leaves out a potential method for preaching and teaching, "incidental witnessing".
Witnesses do not avoid these situations. As for no friends, don't you think there are more witness children than just this one girl. Unlike the churches of Christendom, JW congregation members are not spread out all over the city or county, because individuals think their church of their faith is better than one closer to them. Congregations are made up of specific territories, where children can ride their bike to the home of another witness. Even when I was young, when their numbers were much smaller and the territories covered several cities, we still got together. Twice a year we got together for two days with witnesses from ten other congregations. Once a year with 100 other congregations.
I had a friend who met his wife that way. She saw him at a district convention, and wrote down his name. On her way back to Arizona, her family stopped off in San Diego to look up his name in the phone book. She wrote letters to everyone with the same last name, hoping one would reach him.

Now I know this is true because I read it in their own literature and I once had a JW girl in my daughter's high school who did not have any friends and her parents would not let her go out with the other girls or have sleep-overs etc, even though these were parental supervised and safe.
So why do JWs thumbs down you when a non-JW tells it like it is? Isn't it TRUE that non-witnesses are considered bad associations and no relationship must be encouraged with them beyond basic civil interaction and preaching?
Why is it bad when I say it? Is it because I am a non-Witness?|||I've never gotten a thumbs down for that, specifically, but I'm thoroughly convinced that there are people who give me a thumbs down based solely on me being the person who answered a question. I doubt they read my answer, they just see my avatar, and click their mouse.
I'm being persecuted.|||You received thumbs down because your answer wasn't accurate. The JW are not a sect or a cult. They are CHRISTIANS.

|||As for objectivity, I judge answers on the answers merit. Case in point I agreed with Joyfilled, I believe for the first time.

|||Not just a JW question. I think people voted on partyline (theist against atheist).|||that doesn't make any sense to me. We have a JW in town and she visits everyone in town. She is the only Witness in town but is a friend to everyone. She comes here at least once a week and i consider her my friend. We study the bible together she has a lot of bible knowledge. She takes an elderly lady to town with her because she had a stoke and can't drive anymore. I thought she was getting paid but she said no she is my friend. Maybe it is just some of them you know. this lady is friends with everyone in town.|||anyone could have read your answer and given a "thumbs-down" for whatever reason.

and.... to some degree, i agree with Deke..... but i've come to the place now where i just laugh when i see a "thumbs-down" on my posts.
it tells me that people dont quit reading or ignore mine in the long line of posts before they get to mine.
...|||In my opinion, anyone who doesn't share the same moral beliefs as you is pretty much a bad association. If they are not encouraging me to give my all and do what's morally right, then I don't need to be around them.
And that question you are referring to, that girl was also a lesbian, practicing what we do not believe to be a 'moral practice.' So associating with someone like that could lead to a seared conscience, thinking that that sort of lifestyle is ok, when it's totally not according to Bible standards.
But, I don't recall giving you a thumbs down, partly because you answered the question according to your opinion, and I don't give thumbs downs for that - even if you don't believe what I do, or twist what I do believe.
Many will give you a thumbs down just because of who you are. They could care less about religion, or what the answer is. They see it's you (whoever) and give it a thumbs down. Immature, I know, but it happens all the time on this forum.

Many fairminded persons object to propaganda, especially an assumption about 7 million people based almost entirely upon experiences with exactly 1 person from among that 7 million.
In addition, the term "sect" is an offensive pejorative. Pejoratives are "thumbs-down" bait, so this questioner should not be surprised that she hooked a few.

Don't assume that a child does not have friends, just because they don't associate with your friends or school mates. Everyone has a friend at school, I had good friends at school, but I didn't associate with them outside of school, because I had a whole set of friends that shared my same beliefs that I chose to spend the rest of my free time with. I still keep in touch with many of them from almost 30 years ago.
My nieces and nephews just went to Epcot Sunday with a bunch of their friends, who all share the same beliefs and goals.
You have to look at the whole picture. I know that my cousin who is not a witness, allows her children to watch rated R movies and demonic movies. She doesn't feel there's anything wrong with this. Many parents feel the same way. However, witness parents try to protect their children from violent, sexual and demonic movies or games.
What you consider true is a generalization, a form of propaganda, we are all individuals and your one experience not reflective of the whole picture.|||Because not associating with the world leaves out a potential method for preaching and teaching, "incidental witnessing".
Witnesses do not avoid these situations. As for no friends, don't you think there are more witness children than just this one girl. Unlike the churches of Christendom, JW congregation members are not spread out all over the city or county, because individuals think their church of their faith is better than one closer to them. Congregations are made up of specific territories, where children can ride their bike to the home of another witness. Even when I was young, when their numbers were much smaller and the territories covered several cities, we still got together. Twice a year we got together for two days with witnesses from ten other congregations. Once a year with 100 other congregations.
I had a friend who met his wife that way. She saw him at a district convention, and wrote down his name. On her way back to Arizona, her family stopped off in San Diego to look up his name in the phone book. She wrote letters to everyone with the same last name, hoping one would reach him.
Your answer distorts the view of life for JW children. Yes, there are those who hate it, but than you find that in every religion, and the non-religious.|||I often get the same, and I am a Witness, often people mark you down for no reason. As for your answer, I marked it down since I know from experience, that at times it is true, but not always.

Plus I do often give TDs so I don't have to see some of the more acreages answers.|||I am a Witness and i was 2x given a thumbs down before on my answers but i would get emails apologizing that they accidentally had given me a thumbs down when really they wanted to give me a thumb's up. Besides, not all thumb's down on a question for or about JWs' are from Witnesses. I am certain that a number of those out there who are not Jehovah's Witness may find some answers belittling the witnesses and their beliefs unfair.
I have friends who are not Jehovah's Witnesses but yes, i do admit that i limit my time with them because they do not share my beliefs or my morals. I do not see anything wrong with that.
Yes, i do consider these friends of mine who are not Witnesses bad association when they go clubbing, go out for a smoke, or happy hour when i should be home taking care of the family.

Before I answer I've just got to ask Deke if he feels persecuted by the 9 Thumbs Up he has.
I didn't see any mention of a positive use of Thumbs Down or Up. Months ago someone said that they use the Up or Down to make voting easier if it does come down to a vote. When the names are hidden we still know which answers we gave a Thumbs Up to and of course our own Thumbs Down answers are not shown.|||Why are you persecuting JW? They don't do that to you. You'll pay when Armageddon comes though.|||You are gonna have a hard time getting through to Jehovahs Witnessess or Mormons.|||Bad publicity, no one wants it. pure and simple.|||That's really sad.|||YES! Especially if you point out where they are WRONG, but generally they just give thumbs-down to anything not from a Witness perspective, even if you are right
Papa Bear does this constantly, even though he claims he is not one, he harrasses anyone who doesn't like them
