Why are we letting it happen?

I live on a housing association estate and can't believe the behaviour of not only the kids but the adults alike. I had children young but i work full time as does my partner. We are probably worst off than the other resisdents as we work to pay our rent (most are on housing benefit) and yet our property gets vandalised by the kids kicking footballs and throwing stones and their parents take no responsibility. The teens are loud until all hours of the night with no consideration of the neighbours that have work (probably because they don't know what it is like to get up early to work as they don't even go to school never mind see there parents out of their beds before midday) Can't the government do more to discourage those that are abusing the system. If statistics were used from our estate only 20% are likely to be working in 10 years time but i fear that at lease 60% won't be, who is going to fund them? Are these teens of today going to cause an economy collapseWhy are we letting it happen?
Hell in hand cart.
I can see National Service being reinstituted. I don't necessarily mean military though, there's many opportunities to serve that can teach these reprobates to reform. Why are we letting it happen?
I agree 100% with you. These scum who run wild should be herded up and sent to some island somewhere as they serve no real purpose and are parasitic on the rest of society. The government are ineffective to do anything as are the police as current laws are too soft and people have too many rights, they don't know what is wrong anymore. I would save your pennies and move somewhere nicer if i was you.
No, they are not. The adults need toWhy are we letting it happen?
Just call the freaking police they know how to handle problems like these..one time i was listening to music too loud my neighbor called the police,..and complained they gave me a warning..and said keep it low volume
Lack of Capital punishment has been the cause for this.

The kids know that there is nothing anyone can do let alone their own parents! I do not believe in abuse what so ever! But I do believe in discipline! There is no justice system in this country either, so that doesn't help matters! The government are just as bad, do they care?, I think not! Unless it is affecting them, they do not want to know, all they care about, is taking more money off the poor!

I really don't know what is going to happen in the future with these out of control kids, parents are fightened of them, so they just let them go and run riot, as they have no control!

It's most frightening really, and it isn't gonna get any better I suppose. They need to find things for these kids to do, and make them do it, like cleaning up the litter and painting up old buildings etc. Make them help the community, they just feel a part of it then!
Do you know what. I can so relate to you because I'm in the same situation except I'm a single mother and i work long hours and my neighbors above and below are up having party's all time of the nights. The children in the area are just unruly and run the streets causing havoc. The parents in some situations have actually joined in with there children in terrorizing the neighborhood. I think if the housing association was stricter with there rules and didn't just tell you "well go citizens advice bureau because we don;t really care" then maybe there wouldn't be so many problems. But like I'm always saying, it would be easier if we moved all these people off to an estate that don;t want to work should be carted off to the military. Or volentary work. The goverment needs to stop making easy for people to just chose to stop working and start popping out child after child while the rest of us have to work our asses of to support these children.

the police in my area refuse to do anything, they always say call your housing association first thing tomorrow. So in some circumstances the police are no good.
oh god i would move. this would drive me up the wall.
Thanks to British welfare system and refusal to recognise the fact that only one non european immigrant group is helping the the economy.
I know what it is like. Most of the kids where I live don't go to school and few actually hold jobs. All they do is loiter around.

I am assuming you are living in a low income neighbourhood just by what you described. I HATE how people abuse the system. Okay, if you need financial assistence and you have a job, then here, get some help. But if you aren't working, you don't deserve any help.

Also, these kids if they want to do something with their lives NEED to quit smoking or whatever they do and go to school. It is the only way they can get out of poverty. Plus, their parents don't care for htem and don't set a good example.

I am so happy I have a supportive family. Not everyone does, especially if you are from a poor family.
I agree with you when the govenment suddenly desided kids were not aload to be punished thats when it all started. When i was at school we had the cane when we did something wrong. And there was disapline at home too. These days they can do what they like and you can't do anything about it. Kids have the last say on what goes on.
