Don't you hate it when female athletes bang on about the lack of coverage female athletes get in the media?

Let's be honest, the media is there to make money and they're going to write, televise and cover anything that attracts readers or viewers. Women's sports just don't attract audiences. Female athletes who talk about how poor the media coverage is think that just because they like watching women's football, everybody else will. That's simply not the case. Women's sport in general is a poor spectacle compared to the men's. That's how 99% of the British population see it. Only a tiny minority take an interest, therefore the media coverage is tiny. Surely that's logical?

I hope I haven't offended anybody, and I don't have anything against women's sports...I just have something against those who try to force it in front of our eyes. They forced women's hockey onto our screens at one point...at one stage there were 10 viewers and the hockey association went bust. If that's not a clear enough indication as to why women's sports get such little coverage, I don't know what is.

Do you think the coverage female athletes get is adequate?Don't you hate it when female athletes bang on about the lack of coverage female athletes get in the media?
The reason knowone is interest is becuase alot of people probley dont even no the leagues that exist. Look at football. In england the ony womens games that get shown are the fa cup final and world cup. Unless you have eurosport where they show the under 20 WC aswell, etc.

But if we investeda little more into coverage of womans sport in gerenal atleast we mgith get alot more woman interested in football. The amount of money men and women get paid turns people off as well. Something around 拢1000 the england women's team got paid for playing in the WC yet men pro's get paid a good 10x more than that a week all year!

I always hae loads to say on this so i could get into a huge rant about it but iwon. Just annoyes me when you look at C.Ronaldo getting 43 goals last season or something while Lianne sanderson of arsenal last season scored 51 and didnt even get a word said about her. Also the arsenal women s team at one point went nearly 2 years unbeaten the cred they get is so low its unbelieveable.

Although i'm quite happy with womens athletes as its progressing its just the indivdual sports.

Overall England's women team in most sports go further in comps than the men. so surey they should get something atlast said but no.

EDIT: Oh by the way on the subject of cricket. England's women team won the world cup a few days ago.
Yeah women are just shite at everything.Don't you hate it when female athletes bang on about the lack of coverage female athletes get in the media?
I agree to a point, however women have made a consistent and significant contribution to sport at all levels, yet their achievements on the whole receive limited coverage by the mass media. The quality and quantity of the coverage of women鈥檚 sport by the media is not an accurate reflection of the amount of sport played or watched by women. Media coverage is generally inadequate and selective.
Women's Tennis is the only sport I can think of where the game is more exciting, your right.Don't you hate it when female athletes bang on about the lack of coverage female athletes get in the media?
No - I mean look at what the women did in cricket - yet they hardly get a mention - yet when we won the Ashes - ( boy was that a fluke) it was none stop coverage. Same could be said of equine sports when a man wins it's all over our news yet when a women wins out they get no recognition . The UK overall is stuck behind the times a little bit with women and children - it's simple the guys get more attention. Hopefully it will change as time's move on. You are right - but when women do achieve something significant - it should be coverd not ignored. I agree with what you say though

edit: i disagree , i am not gay but I do think women tend to put a bit more effort into their work sport wise - simple matter of the fact is Britain is still very much sexist- and I am being honest here - women get stick for watching football yet guys don't get stick for being into fashion? can you see were I am coming from?- we claim to treat men and women equally - but bottom line is we don't - there are more sport activities available for boys rather than girls. I understand your point and I hope you understand mine.
agree
Well being a girl, I like to play sports. But honostley i do not enjoy watching female athletes.. Idk why. I think girls can play sports for fun with friends but dont think it should really be a proffesion because they become manly if you know what i mean :) Well when i say sports i mean like womens footie. Or womens hockey... Because sports like tennis, and gymnastics and ice skating are definitley women sports and thats interesting to watch.
i think its because not that many ppl watch womens sports so less money for media so they don't show it.
Perhaps if the media provided more coverage of women's sport the public could make up their minds rather than assuming they wouldn't like it!

Women get inadequate coverage in terms of sport. Is it not better to watch UK/England/Ireland/Northern Ireland do well in sport regardless of sex!

Tennis, FA cup final and large sporting events such as olympics and paralympics are the main times we see female athletes in action.

Personally I think it depends on the sport and teams playing, I'm from Northern Ireland and would rather watch 2 female premier league hockey sides (pegasus, ballymoney, etc) play on tv than watch the likes of Newcastle United and Hull!
so that's it then
