I'm an african-american junior who currently has a 3.5 I scored a 163 on my PSAT and have yet to take the SAT. I've been taking advanced English since freshman year and I'm in AP u.s history and intend on taking AP english and AP psych next year. I'm an active member of CSF(california scholarship federation) and will be graduating w/ honours from that association! I'm very active in over 12+ clubs and ASB and I play 2 sports (football and soccer) and I plan on swimming, diving, baseball, and cross country next year as well. I have in the top 20% in my class and I'm doing good. Everyone things I'm super smart and I'm going to get in somewhere even the teachers tell me! They also say b/c I'm black it strengthens my chances of getting in. Is all the true or BS. And they're telling me what I want to hear? SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY! Thanks! Will i get into a UC or another prestigious university? preferably UC irvine or UCSB?
Dream big. No one's saying you can't do it.
But you also need to know the facts:
Most of students in UC took AP/IB English and other subjects.
Most of students have at least three AP tests passed with a grade 3 or more.
Most of students are in CSF, who's who, even IB.
What I'm trying to say is that those things you listed don't really stand out.
Good thing is that you are still early in the game, you need to focus on leaderships, and reduce that 12+ clubs into something meaningful like three or four.
You don't even have spaces to put all that 12+ clubs.
You will get in for sure, but you need to keep work hard in your academic and extracurricular activities.
I have helped many students, and honestly, nothing really stands out at this time.
You're a good student, but you need to push yourself harder to get in to those prestigious schools.
Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm sure you'll get into one of UCs, but aim higher.
